FirstSearch Full Text -- NOT

FirstSearch is not respecting the "full-text only" box today. The student I was helping had checked it, but about half of his return was not full-text. He was in Philosopher's Index; I replicated the problem in both Agricola and MLA. Verletta is letting the appropriate people know.

I just received the following response from OCLC:

"The reason you are seeing items in your results that appear not to be “full text” has to do with the journals you subscribe to in Electronic Collections Online (ECO). There are over 6000 journals available, and you subscribe to 414 of them.

Since you have a subscription to ECO, your results are displayed with those items with full text in ECO appearing first. However, since in the examples you gave you do not actually subscribe to the journals within ECO which have those articles, the full-text link is not displayed. With the limit function, we do not have the granularity of displaying results only in those journals to which you subscribe, we can only limit to the ECO subscription itself.

You can see this by going into the administrative module and turning off the full text link for ECO to see the difference in results."

I will bring this up in the librarian's meeting but it appears we have two options: 1. have a full text limit that doesn't work 2. not allow automatic links to show up for those ECO ejournal we do have under subscription.
